Dr. Crystal Sciarini studied Naturopathic Medicine and nutrition for more than 20 years and applies this research and knowledge to aid patients in the recovery and healing processes. She has been published in several outlets including FETCH, Social Issues Firsthand: Drunk Driving, Associated Content, SheFinds, various trade magazines, and is the author of Well Poop: a how-to manual for GI health.
Prior to immersing herself in the field of natural medicine, Dr. Sciarini dabbled in various jobs. The lack of fulfillment combined with various medical issues pushed her to pursue the field of natural medicine. “I healed myself,” she states, “through trial and error with dietary changes and supplementation. I wanted to help individuals find their wellness too but didn’t want to make a mistake, I needed professional medical training and knowledge.”
A serendipitous meeting at Starbucks proved to be the fork in her road. First, an undergraduate degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, then on to the National University of Health Sciences to become a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.
Dr. Sciarini is thankful for the support of her husband and family. Although her plan to pursue a doctorate uprooted them to a new home in another state, their support allowed her to follow her calling. Dr. Sciarini shares her experiences and knowledge through private practice, speaking engagements, and printed text.
A personal message from Dr. Sciarini...
"It's hard to find a concise way to tell the long story that brought me to Naturopathic Medicine, so I'll just start with, "I get it!". Being a patient in our healthcare system STINKS! I suffered for most of my life with vague, non-specific symptoms that gradually became more and more intense until I could barely function. I heard over and over from doctors the dreaded statements, "There's nothing wrong with you.", "It's all in your head.", "You just need to lose weight." and so on...
Eventually, I stopped bothering to go to the doctor's office at all, even though the pain was so intense that I couldn't walk up the stairs without pulling myself up with the rail, my back was so sensitive that the slightest touch felt like a knife being plunged into me, and so, so much more! I had a huge list of complaints, but I had settled into the idea that this was just how my life was going to be. I couldn't imagine making it to 40, let alone 70, 80, or 90!
One day a customer at our scrapbook store gave me a free bottle of a supplement that included 'hyaluronic acid'. I really didn't expect the product to do anything, but since it was free I began to take the supplement. Three days later I was walking up the stairs and realized that not only was I not in pain, I also didn't need to pause to continue halfway up!!! This one supplement re-ignited my interest in what back then was termed "alternative medicine".
I began to study and research nutrition, vitamins, exercise, and supplements. Through my research, I was able to begin to heal my body, as neighbors and friends saw my transformation they came to me for advice. Soon I was, almost daily, doling out holistic advice, and then came the day I learned about Naturopathic Medicine and that I could be trained as a Naturopathic doctor! I knew immediately that Naturopathic Medicine is what God was calling me to do and so here I am, a formerly chronically ill patient turned Naturopathic Doctor!
I look forward to helping you find your way back to wellness. I will NEVER tell you your symptoms aren't real, every symptom is your body's way of letting you know that something needs to be addressed, that somewhere in your body something is disturbed. I will work with you to find the root cause of your dis-ease, together we will find you your wellness so that you can get back to enjoying life.
